Biography

Timmy Schenk

Born in 1991 in Lausanne from musicians parents who love rock and country music, he first learns the piano before becoming a singer, guitarist and bassist in various Pop/rock acts, a world in which he is still very active. Early showing interest in sound engineering and computer music, which he first tames in a self-taught way, he begins a Bachelor degree in the Music & Multimedia section of the University Of The Arts in Bern after obtaining his Maturity with a music Excellence prize. For three years, he has been learning thoroughly music technology and classical music theory and studied composition first with Daniel Weissberg, then Cathy van Eck. In the continuity of this course, he carries out a Master Degree in Contemporary Arts practice, during which he can refine his creative work and as well as a Minor in composition under the mentorship of Xavier Dayer. His work is mainly centered on the interactions between electronic and instrumental, both from a compositional and sound point of view. In order to hone his knowledge of instrumental composition, he obtains a Master Degree in composition & Theory, still under the mentorship of Xavier Dayer and Gilbert Nouno (IRCAM).

During his studies, he had the opportunity to take courses and lectures by Michael Harenberg, Daniel Zea, Andreas Stahl, Daniel Glaus, Christian henking, Helmut Lachenmann, Stefan Prins and many Others. Through his bipolar musical journey, he composes as much instrumental music as electronic or mixed and had the opportunity to work with various ensembles, artists or events such as ensemble Hodiernis, the ensemble Vertigo, the ensemble Nuance (for The Musikfestival Bern), the Ensemble This | Ensemble That (idem), with Francesca Naibo for the project Sonus Proiectus, for the Ittinger Pfingskonzerte, with Joachim Schlœmer for the Europe Sauvage project, the ensemble Polytheistic & Tema or the Symphonic wind Orchestra of The Swiss Army.

He has also performed in various Pop/Rock acts on many of the major European scenes such as the Montreux Jazz Festival, the Exit Festival, the Olympia in Paris, the Amnéville Galaxy, as well as on various radio and television channels such as the RTS or Couleur 3.
